To the honourable  MP

Hello I am a Canadian citizen who is against the practice of Female Genital Mutilation and I would like to know what the government of Canada is doing about this crime or is willing to do about this crime. Female Genital Mutilation is a crime so horrible that it hard to even talk about it.Female Genital mutilation has been associated with Islam (though not practiced by most Muslims and it is practiced by some non-muslems) because of its prevalence in the Muslim world and because Mohamed apparently praised it in the Hadith. According to  WikiIslam:   "Muhammad maintained the practice after migrating to Medina and is recorded as approving of the practice in four hadith. Two other hadith record the sahabah (Companions of Mohammed) engaging in the practice." Female Genital Mutilation is where ritualistic removal of some of a female's genitalia is removed and the female's vulva  is often sealed shut. According to Wikipedia, UNICEF estimates that 200 million women from 27 countries,  have undergone Female Genital Mutilation. Again According to Wikipedia, in half of these countries from which  we are given  statistics, most females undergo this  procedure before the age of 5. There are a number of documentaries out there that speak out against this abuse. I have included a link to one of them. How prevalent is this crime in Canada? What is being done to address it. I would like to see it prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Thank you for your time and consideration and for watching the link.
