Abortion

Posted by Shawn on October 28, 2016

To Mr. MP:

We are Canadian citizens and we would like for you to initiate legislation which will bring abortion in Canada to an end. We are opposed to abortion because abortion ends the life of a defenceless human being. Abortion is the intentional killing of a human person. Unborn children are distinct from their mother and have their own unique genetic finger print.

At only twenty days after conception the beginnings of the brain, nervous system, and spinal cord are forming. After twenty-one days the heart of the unborn child begins to beat. How can anyone deny that this is a human child and a living person?

Please do what you can to bring to an end the horrific and un-humane practice of abortion in our country.

Sincerely,

Shawn and Ramona Stevens

To Mr. MP:

Hello we are Canadian citizens who are opposed to abortion for several reasons. In our last letter to you on this topic, we expressed that we are opposed to abortion because it ends a human life. We are also opposed to abortion because abortion harms women.

There is a growing body of medical evidence which shows that having an abortion in the early months of pregnancy, when a women's estrogen levels are high contributes to her chance of getting breast cancer. A study sponsored by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, which examined the cases of 41,039 women concluded that women who had undergone an abortion had a four times greater rate of hospitalization over infections, and almost five times greater rate of hospitalization over psychiatric problems, than a matching group of women who had not had abortions.

Many women regret their decision to have an abortion, having not realized the grief and guilt that they would experience following an abortion. The solution is to protect women from ever entering this situation in the first place by ending the practise of abortion in Canada.

We ask that you would do all that you can to see this realized.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Shawn and Ramona Stevens

To Mr. , MP:

Hello we are Canadian citizens who have written to you before expressing our desire to see abortion end in Canada. We would also like to express that we feel the abortion drug RU-486 should remain illegal in our country. It is our understanding that this drug is illegal in Canada but legal in the United States.

The drug, RU-486, although approved by the FDA, is controversial because of the reported instances of harm, even death, that have followed for some women shortly after taking the drug. Even the United States House of Representatives Government Reform Committee published a staff report titled, “The FDA And RU-486: Lowering The Standard For Women's Health.” They say:

“... the FDA has acknowledged the death of six U.S. women associated with RU-486, nine life- threatening incidents, 232 hospitalizations, 116 blood transfusions and 88 cases of infection. A quarter all the patients were hospitalized. These and other cases add up to a total of 1070 adverse event reports (AERs) as of April, 2006.”1

This official US government report concluded that “The integrity of the FDA in the approval and monitoring of RU-486 has been substandard and necessitates the withdrawal of this dangerous and fatal product before more women suffer the known and the anticipated consequences or fatalities. RU-486 is a dangerous drug for women, its unusual approval demonstrates a lower standard of care for women, and its withdrawal from the market is justified and necessary to protect the public's health.” (Ibid., 40).

Taking the drug RU-486, is also dangerous because the recipients of the drug go home to have a miscarriage, usually not in the presence of a doctor. Women undergoing abortions of this type are left to figure out how much bleeding is too much bleeding, how much cramping is too much cramping and how much pain is too much pain. Then they live with the trauma of giving birth to a dead child. RU-486 abortions, like all abortions, are traumatic and wrong.

Please do all that you can to ensure that this drug is never legalized in Canada.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Shawn and Ramona Stevens
